Prof. Thomsen’s pastel of Black Elk’s vision, which Thomsen
described as "a message of brotherhood, peace and compassion," was
translated into mosaics by Hanns Schraff [Wikipedia]
of Schraff & Schraff, Los
Angeles.
Omaha engineer and architect William Durand of Durand Associates
worked with Thomsen in creating the Tower. Durand designed the site
placement, drew the renderings, determined the structure specifications,
and oversaw the project. The concrete panels were built by Gage Brothers
Concrete Products of Sioux City, Iowa; the general contractor was
Christiansen Construction of Pender, Nebraska.
